For many of us, the holiday season of 2022 came with a last-minute change of plans, mostly due to the extreme cold and hazardous weather conditions. There were parties cancelled, travels rushed or delayed, or cancelled altogether. Classes and practices were changed, or on break for the holidays.
Fortunately, the weather warnings required us to stock up for extra meals and snacks that were yet unknown. The warnings encouraged us to complete last minute shopping tasks more in advance than usual or downsize our plans altogether. In the end, the holiday for many was a quiet one, reigned in and relaxing with quality family time, movies and games, and more meals together at the table than we usually get to enjoy.
Like the grasshopper in Aesop’s Fables, the early preparation was not priority- until it was too late. Like the ant, we were thankful to have stayed warm and safe through the winter storms, and I hope you did, too.
With a new year brings fresh priorities and outlooks, and a good time to reevaluate both. If you haven’t revisited your financial goals and the tasks needed to keep you on track, or if you haven’t determined your goals, use this post-holiday downtime to do so. Call and visit with your financial advisor now, so you can step back and enjoy the benefits of your preparation later.
