October 2019 Commentary: Financial Planning month and Train UglySubmitted by MidWestOne Investment Services on October 1st, 2019
There are so many topics to write about these days it is hard to narrow it down sometimes. First off, welcome October and the 4th quarter. Neither was particularly good to us last year, so let’s root for better things in 2019.
One topic getting its share of air time is the Fed and interest rates. This link is from LPL Chief Investment Strategist John Lynch. In the video, he discusses the impact of the central bank accommodations on global markets. It is a quick two minute video with some solid information.
Another similar topic is yield curve inversion. It is a big, scary thing that is an indicator of recession possibilities. This link goes beyond the top layer and talks about the why of the inverted yield curve is important.
I have been coming across a lot of great information recently from Trevor Ragan and his Train Ugly concepts. This podcast is long, but it is called “The Science of Making Better Decisions”. It helps remind that even the most rational people among us have moments of making decisions irrationally. Every once in a while, I like to bring you something outside the traditional finance arena that has great application in financial planning.
And finally, October is Financial Planning month. We will be posting daily financial tips on our Facebook page. Please consider checking it out, liking it, and maybe even sharing it. Thank you for considering it!
Have a great beginning to October and thank you for reading along!!
