We recently took the boys on their first trip to Adventureland and as a parent you are always nervous about how they will do as they get their first taste of stomach churning thrills...I should have expected they would both love it.
While things were quite peaceful on this train ride, it was my second or third time on the falling star with Ian that I realized my thrill ride Risk Number had decreased from when I was younger. This reminded me of a few of you who have trusted me to be your advisor over the last decade plus. As your life has unfolded, responsibilities have changed, so too has your desired Risk Number from time to time.
When we first set your Risk Number it is a snapshot of your life at that moment in time. This is why I always include an updated investment roadmap in strategy review sessions or emails. As your family dynamic, work situation, or hobbies and personal interests change it may have an impact up or down on your Risk Number. The strategy review is designed to catch those changes early so we can update your plan and adjust as needed. Most often there is not much excitement between strategy sessions, much like the train ride, we can enjoy the steady progress towards your goals. If something has changed impacting your Risk Number I am here to talk and review your plan.
Below are a couple of quick commentaries from First Trust and LPL Research. The Paris Notre-Dame article is a long read but fascinating follow-up to the fire from earlier this year.
Enjoy the ride! - Jason
